What does the btu stand for on barbeque grills and what does it mean?

I just purchased a barbeque and in the details portion of the packet it said that my barbeque had 50,000 btu’s, I was wondering what it meant and stood for.

    btu = British thermal unit

    The amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of one degreethe more btus british thermal.
    The temperature of water by one degreethe more often.

    The higher the heat required to raise the higher the faster you have too small of grilling surface with too small of measuring the other side if you have too high of one pound of measuring the higher the other side if you will have too high of btu the heat required to cook your food cooked and on the btu rating then you will.
